R & A Roofing & Sons LTD recently completed a comprehensive roof repair and maintenance project for a property in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex.
The project began with stripping down the verge area to inspect the underlying structure. We then installed fresh felt and treated battens, followed by a new undercoat layer to ensure solid foundation protection. The tiles were carefully reinstated, and the verge was neatly bedded and finished in fresh cement for a secure, weatherproof edge.
In addition to the verge restoration, we focused on securing and waterproofing the chimney. The lead flashing around the chimney was re-fixed into position, dressed, and coated with fibreglass to provide an extra layer of durable, watertight protection against water ingress.
Work completed:
Stripped down the existing roof verge
Installed new breathable felt and treated battens
Applied new undercoat protection
Reinstated roof tiles and re-cemented the verge edges
Re-fixed and secured lead flashing around the chimney
Fibreglass application to the chimney lead flashing for long-term sealing
Completed in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex
This targeted restoration ensures the roofline and chimney detailing are completely watertight, structurally sound, and built to withstand coastal weather conditions.
